Ypsolopha sylvella

(Linnaeus, 1767)

Wingspan 18-20 mm.

This oak-feeding species is locally distributed in much of England north to Yorkshire.

It closely resembles the slightly commoner Y. alpella, which also is found in oak woods, and has a similar distribution, so care has to be taken with identification.

The adult moths occur during August and September, and can be attracted by light.
