Olive Crescent Trisateles emortualis

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 29-35 mm.

A rare species, which is resident in one or two scattered deciduous woodland areas in the south of England. There have also been a handful of probable migrant records on the south coast.

The foodplants are sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa), oak (Quercus) and beech (Fagus). The adult appears to lay eggs on leaves which are on branches that have snapped off, and the larvae feed on those leaves.

The adults are on the wing in June and July, and the species overwinters as a pupa.
