Early Tooth-striped Trichopteryx carpinata
(Borkhausen, 1794)
Wingspan 30-34 mm.
A fairly common species over most of the British Isles, flying in April and May in a single generation, and occupying woodland habitats.
Typically the moth has ill-defined markings, but the northern ab. fasciata form has more contrasting cross-bands.
The larvae feed on various trees, including honeysuckle (Lonicera), sallow (Salix) and birch (Betula).
