Juniper Carpet Thera juniperata

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 26-29 mm.

A scarce species, restricted to a few scattered localities throughout Britain, though it does turn up in gardens where cultivated varieties of juniper are grown.

It flies in late autumn, from October to November, and is attracted to light.

As the English name suggests, it feeds mainly on juniper (Juniperus), but possibly is adapting to other garden conifers.
