The Goldwing Synthymia fixa

(Fabricius, 1787)


Wingspan 37-40 mm.

Although not conclusively a British species, a single individual of this species is reputed to have been caught in south Devon in 1937.

Abroad the species occurs in southern Europe and North Africa and flies from April to July.

The caterpillars feed on bitumen vetch (Psoralea bituminosa) on the continent.
