Sitochroa palealis
([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Wingspan 26-32 mm.
This species is a local resident along the coastal areas of the south and south-east, and also an occasional migrant.
With its silky whitish upperwings and diffuse dusky spot, it is quite distinctive moth, and a favourite amongst enthusiasts.
It flies in June and July and is attracted to light.
The larvae feed on umbellifers, particularly wild carrot (Daucus carota).
