Dew Moth Setina irrorella

(Linnaeus, 1758)


Wingspan 27-33 mm.

A mainly coastal species, occurring along the south coast, and sporadically on the west coast of Britain from south Wales north to the Hebrides. It also occurs occasionally inland, and in the Burren region of western Ireland.

The adults fly in the early morning, and from afternoon onwards, and rest openly on blades of grass or leaves.

The larvae feed exposed on lichens growing on rocks and stony places.
