Scarce Hook-tip Sabra harpagula

(Esper, 1786)

Wingspan 25-35 mm.

Very local and confined to a small part of western England and south Wales, this species is more easily encountered elsewhere in Europe, but is not especially common. It is also a suspected immigrant to these shores.

In Britain there is only one generation, flying in June and July whereas on the continent there is often a second brood in August. The larvae feed on small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata).
