Recurvaria nanella

Wingspan c. 12 mm.
Recurvaria nanella is to be found in England from Yorkshire southwards, and in North Wales, although its range appears to be contracting rapidly.
It occurs in orchards, where it can be a pest, feeding on apple (Malus), pear (Pyrus) and also Prunus. The larva mines a leaf when young, later feeding inside a bud after hibernating.
The adult moths fly in July and August, and are attracted to light, but can also be found resting on tree trunks.
