Pseudatemelia subochreella

Wingspan c. 18mm.

Somewhat plainer in appearance than the other two British Pseudatemelia species, the forewings of this species also tend to be more ochreous in colour (hence the name subochreella), and has darker hindwings.

It is distributed locally in the southern half of Britain, occupying woodland habitat where the larvae feed on dead and decaying leaves from a portable case made from a folded leaf fragment.

The adult moths fly from late May to July, and as well as being nocturnal, can sometimes be found on the wing in the daytime.
