Phyllonorycter scopariella - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Phyllonorycter scopariella

(Zeller, 1846)

Wingspan c.7 mm.

Although distributed fairly widely across much of Great Britain, this is a species not easily encountered. Other members of the genus can be located by their leafmines, but P. scopariella larvae mine the twigs of broom (Cytisus scoparius) and the mines are very hard to find.

The adult moths occur from late May to July and are most easily found by tapping bushes of the foodplant.
