Small Lappet Phyllodesma ilicifolia - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Small Lappet Phyllodesma ilicifolia

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 35-40 mm.

Possibly now extinct in the British Isles, this species was formerly found in moorland and woodland habitat in parts of mid-England and the south-west.

There have been no confirmed records since the 1960's, but it is considered to possibly still remain undetected in some areas.

The adults would fly in April and May, and the larval foodplant was bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus).
