Phalonidia curvistrigana
Banded Goldenrod Straw
49.1 BF934
[= Piercea curvistrigana]
Wingspan c.14mm
A rather local and scarce species, with a somewhat scattered distribution in England and Wales, in areas of limestone woodland or coastal cliffs, north to Cumbria, where it has been found on a number of occasions at Gait Barrows on the Lancashire/Cumbria border.
Flying in a single generation in July and August, it occasionally comes to light but is equally likely to be found flying at dusk over its preferred habitat.
The foodplant is goldenrod (Solidago), the larva feeding on the host plant's flowers and seeds.
