Barred Rivulet Perizoma bifaciata - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Barred Rivulet Perizoma bifaciata

(Haworth, 1809)

Wingspan 20-26 mm.

Widely distributed over England and Wales, though usually local, it is scarce in southern Scotland and Ireland.

It flies in July and August, and is attracted to light.

The larvae feed mainly on the seeds of red bartsia (Odontites verna). It spends the winter as a pupa, and unusually for the family, may overwinter more than once in this stage before emerging.
