Bilberry Pug Pasiphila debiliata

(Hübner, [1817])

Wingspan 17-19 mm.

A fairly distinctive, broad-winged pug, with a very pale green background colour, and distinct broken blackish fasciae. There is also an obvious dark discal spot.

The species is locally distributed in England, Wales and Ireland, usually occupying open woodland with an undergrowth of bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus). They fly during June and July.

The larvae hide in spun leaves of bilberry during the day, coming out at night to feed more in the open.
