Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Bordered Pearl Paratalanta pandalis

(Hübner, [1825])

[Synonyms: Microstega pandalis]
Wingspan c. 25-29mm.

This species is distributed across England and Wales and occurs in open woodland habitats, although it is less common in the northern part of its range. It also occurs in western Ireland.

The adults are quite similar to a number of other species and care is required in identifying species in this group.

The larvae feed on herbaceous plants such as wood sage (Teucrium scorodonia) and goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea, the later stages feeding from a portable case constructed from leaves.
