Pammene splendidulana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Pammene splendidulana

(Guenée, 1845)

Wingspan c. 11mm.

This species is distributed widely across much of the British Isles, though it is more frequent in southern England, and scarcer further north and elsewhere.

The adults are quite distinctive, with their shining silvery patches, two dark spots and a 'scaled' effect caused by pale edges to the forewing scales.

Flying between April and June, the moths are on the wing from late afternoon into the evening.

The larva feeds on oak (Quercus), spinning together two leaves and feeding within.
