Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Pammene gallicana

(Guenée, 1845)

Wingspan c. 10-13 mm.

This species is to be found in coastal and lowland areas in England and Wales, with a more coastal distribution in Scotland, where it is scarcer. It also occurrs uncommonly in Ireland.

The adults fly in afternoon sunshine, when they rest on flowers of the foodplant, and again from dusk onwards.

There is a single generation with moths on the wing in July and August.

The larvae feed in a slight spinning amongst seeds of umbellifers, particularly wild carrot (Daucus carota).
