Pammene argyrana

(Hübner, [1799])

Wingspan 10-13 mm.

A species of oak woodland, locally distributed over most of the British Isles.

A relatively early spring species, the moth is at large during April and May, when it can be found resting on the trunks in the crevices of bark. It also comes to light after dark.

The larva lives in a gall, often that of another hymenopterous insect, feeding internally.
