Small Quaker Orthosia cruda
([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Wingspan 25-30 mm.
A fairly common species over much of Britain, occupying deciduous woodland.
The adults fly in March and April, feed on sallow blossom, and are attracted to light.
The larvae feed in the early summer on a number of deciduous trees, including oak (Quercus) and willow (Salix).
