Notocelia trimaculana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Notocelia trimaculana

(Haworth, 1811)

Wingspan 15-17 mm.

Another of the very similar Epiblema species, the distinctive tawny markings towards the outer part of the forewing help to identify this moth.

Hawthorn (Crataegus) is the larval foodplant, and the moth occurs quite commonly over most of Britain.

Flight time for the adult moths is June and July, and the species is mainly nocturnal.
