Nemophora cupriacella
(Hübner, [1819])
Wingspan 12-16 mm.
A local species, occurring mainly in the south of England, and more scarcely in parts of northern England, Wales and Ireland.
It inhabits dry grassy areas and downland, and flies during the daytime, mainly in July.
The larvae feed on scabious (Knautia, Succisa or Scabiosa), initially on the seeds, later building a case and feeding on fallen and lower leaves.
