Monochroa lucidella

(Stephens, 1834)

Wingspan 12-14 mm.

This gelechid is widespread and locally common in damp habitats throughout most of England and Wales.

The eggs of this species are laid on Common spike-rush, with the larva emerging to feed in the stem.

The adult moths emerge in June and July and may be seen flying in late afternoon, often in numbers, around the foodplants.
