Mirificarma lentiginosella

(Zeller, 1839)

Wingspan c.12-17 mm.

This is a rather local species, occurring mainly in the south and south-eastern counties of England, but ranging northwards to the Midlands and the Lancashire coast.

It frequents downland and heaths, where the foodplant, dyer's greenweed, occurs.

The larva feeds in spun terminal shoots and can be found in May and June. The adults are on the wing during July and August.
