Metzneria aestivella

(Zeller, 1839)

Wingspan c.14 mm.

Metzneria aestivella differs from the other two widespread species, M. lappella and M. metzneriella in that it lacks the black discal spot on the forewing.

The larva feeds in the seedheads of carline thistle (Carlina vulgaris).

Although widespread, the species is local, and the adults fly during June and July.
