The Seraphim Lobophora halterata

(Hufnagel, 1767)


Wingspan 20-25 mm.

Exhibiting a reasonable range of variations, this species has a scattered distribution, occurring most commonly in southern Britain and parts of Scotland.

The adults fly in May and June, inhabiting woodland habitats, and are attracted to light.

The larvae feed on aspen (Populus tremula) and poplar (Populus spp.).
