Raspberry Moth Lampronia corticella
(Linnaeus, 1758)
[Synonyms: rubiella]Wingspan c. 9-12mm.
Distributed quite widely over much of the British Isles, this species can be a pest due to the damage it can cause to the main foodplant, raspberry (Rubus idaeus).
The larva feeds initially in the flower receptacle and subsequently in the buds and shoots, causing these to wilt.
The moths fly during the afternoon and can be found on the wing in May and June.
