Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Light Brocade Lacanobia w-latinum

(Hufnagel, 1766)

Wingspan 37-42 mm.

Reasonably common south of the Midlands, but rare elsewhere, this species shows a preference for calcareous soils, where it occupies rough ground and heathland.

The single generation is on the wing in May and June, sometimes into July.

A number of plants are used by the larvae as foodplants, including broom (Cytisus scoparius) and dyer's greenweed (Genista tinctoria).
