Orange Upperwing Jodia croceago

Wingspan c. 35 mm.
A rare and local species, which despite concerted efforts has not been seen in Britain for a number of years. It was formerly found in very scattered localities in wooded habitats in the southern half of England and Wales.
The flight period of the adults is during October and November, then hibernating and reappearing from March to May.
The larval foodplant is oak (Quercus), the larvae occurring from April to July.
