Frosted Yellow Isturgia limbaria

(Fabricius, 1775)

Wingspan c. 28mm.

Formerly resident in two disjunct regions, south-east England and in Scotland, this species is now unfortunately believed extinct in Britain, having not been seen since the last known occurrence in East Anglia in 1914.

In its heyday there were two generations, flying in May/June and again in July/August.

The larva feeds on broom (Cytisus scoparius).
