Hysterophora maculosana

Wingspan 10-14 mm.

Occupying woodland habitat and distributed in England and Wales, and parts of Scotland and Ireland, it is locally common in places.

Although the sexes are superficially similar, the hindwings of the males are whitish, whereas those of the female are dark.

The adults fly in May and June, the larvae subsequently feeding inside the seed capsules of bluebell (Endymion non-scriptus)
