([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Wingspan c. 25 mm.
Occurring locally in dry stony areas, mainly in downland habitats, this species is most frequent in the southern counties of England, although it is known also from further north and in Wales.
The early stages are not well described in the literature, though the larvae are believed to feed on rock-rose (Helianthemum) or field wormwood (Artemisia campestris).
The adult moths fly from June to August, and are on the wing from dusk into the night. They can also be disturbed easily during the day.
