Plain Plume Hellinsia tephradactyla

(Hübner, [1813])

Wingspan c.18-23mm.

Although widely distributed over much of Britain and Ireland, this species is rather local, occupying woodland habitat, coasts and hills.

Adult moths fly during July, coming to light, although they can also be disturbed during the day from around their foodplant.

The larvae feed on goldenrod (Solidago), on the flowers and seed heads.
