Heliodines roesella

Wingspan c. 10mm.
This attractive little species was resident in two or three scattered locations in the south of England during the early 19th century, but has not been recorded here since about 1820, apart from an unconfirmed record in Lincolnshire in the 1950s.
Abroad, it occurs in southern Europe where the adult moths are on the wing from July onwards, overwintering until the followng spring.
The larvae feed on goosefoot and related plants (Chenopodiaceae).
