Fisher's Estuarine Moth Gortyna borelii

Pierret, 1837

Wingspan c.42-58 mm.

Rather like a large, pale version of Frosted Orange, this protected species is rare and very local, being restricted to two localities in the south-east of England.

The adult moths fly in September and October, and rest on the foodplant after dark.

The larvae feed internally on the roots and stems of hog's fennel (Peucedanum officinale).
