Gelechia muscosella
Zeller, 1839
Wingspan c.12-17mm.
This is a rather rare and local species in Britain, occurring in only a few eastern and south-eastern localities. They prefer damp fenland and shingle beaches, and have been found at Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire and Dungeness in Kent.
The adults fly in June and July and can be attracted to light.
The larvae are said to feed in the catkins of sallow (Salix), and perhaps poplar (Populus).
