Pinion-spotted Pug Eupithecia insigniata

Wingspan 18-22 mm.

One of the more distinctively marked 'Pug' moths, occurring mainly in the southern half of England.

The adults fly in April and May, and can be found around hedgerows and similar bushy localities.

The slender greenish caterpillars have red markings along the back and feed on hawthorn (Crataegus) and apple (Malus).
