Eudemis porphyrana

(Hübner, [1799])

Wingspan c. 20mm.

This is a mainly southern species, and can resemble Eudemis profundana, but generally has fewer or less obvious strigulae in the basal half of the wing, and the pale blotch on the dorsum more deeply indented.

In this country the larvae feed mostly on apple (Malus), rolling a leaf in traditional Tortrix manner.

Adults are on the wing in July and August and come to light.
