Eucosma hohenwartiana

Wingspan 11-23 mm.

A fairly common species over most of Britain except for parts of Scotland, inhabiting dry, open and grassy areas.

The larvae feed inside the flowerheads of knapweed (Centaurea) and saw-wort (Serratula). In Centaurea nigra the larvae may be confused with the very similar larvae of Eucosma cana.

A single-brooded species with a flight period from June to August.
