Small Autumnal Moth Epirrita filigrammaria

Wingspan 30-38 mm.

This is the least difficult British Epirrita species to identify, being smaller and usually more well marked.

It is an inhabitant of moorland, mainly in the north of Britain, its range extending from Scotland down to the Midlands.

It flies in August and September, and the larvae feed on heather (Calluna and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus).
