Wood Carpet Epirrhoe rivata

(Hübner, [1813])

Wingspan 28-34 mm.

Occupying woodland margins, chalky downland and sea-cliffs, this species is widely distributed but local in the south of England and Wales, and scarce in northern England and Scotland.

Like many of its close relatives, it feeds on bedstraw (Galium).

The adults fly between June and August.
