Epinotia trigonella
(Linnaeus, 1758)
Wingspan 16-21 mm.
Widespread and locally common throughout the British Isles, frequenting heathland, mosses and open woodland.
Adults are on the wing in August and September, and although crepuscular in habits, it can also be disturbed during the day.
The larvae feed between folded or spun leaves of birch (Betula).
