Epinotia maculana
(Fabricius, 1775)
Wingspan c. 17-23 mm.
This rather obscurely-patterned Tortrix is distributed widely but locally throughout much of England and Scotland, and also occurs in parts of Wales and Ireland.
The larvae feed on aspen (Populus tremula), possibly on other species of Populus, within rolled leaves.
Flying from August to October, the moths can be beaten from the branches of their foodplant, but also come to light.
