Epiblema sticticana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Epiblema sticticana

(Fabricius, 1794)

Wingspan 15-20 mm.

Rather difficult to distinguish from the closely related E. scutulana and E. cirsiana, this species is however generally lighter and browner.

It flies in May and June and occupies waste ground, coastal localities and other open situations. It is fairly common over much of the British Isles.

The larvae feed mostly on coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara), initially in the roots and later in the flower stems.
