Wingspan c. 9mm.

This species has a white marking towards the base of the forewing, beyond the median fascia, making it quite easy to identify among similarly marked Elachistidae.

It occurs in Northern England and Scotland, where it occurs on high ground, and also in southern England, but is less frequent in the central parts of the country.

The larvae feed on wood-rush (Luzula spp.), creating a mine typical of the genus.

Adult moths can be found between May and July, with higher altitude populations flying towards the end of this period.
