The Passenger Dysgonia algira

(Linnaeus, 1767)

Wingspan 40-46 mm.

This is a continental species, occurring in southern Europe and Africa.

In Britain it is a rare vagrant, and has only been recorded on a small number of occasions, all in the southern counties, usually with no more than one or two in a year, although there were 12 records in 2006.

Abroad, it has two generations, flying in May and June and again in July and August, and is attracted to light.
