Depressaria sordidatella

[Synonyms: weirella]Wingspan c. 18-22mm.
Distributed fairly widely over much of mainland Britain, this species is however fairly local, and scarcer in the western counties, not occurring in Ireland.
It is relatively plain in appearance and differs from some similar species by the darker thorax and head, concolourous with the forewing.
Flying in July and August, the species is to be found in open grassland or farmland areas and damp meadows.
The larvae feed on cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris) and sometimes other plants such as hemlock (Conium maculatum), in rolled or spun terminal leaves.
