Brindled Ochre Dasypolia templi
(Thunberg, 1792)
Wingspan 35-40 mm.
Mainly occupying rocky coastal habitats and moorland, this moth is found along the south-west coasts of England and Wales, and sporadically inland as well as coastally from the Midlands northwards through Scotland.
An autumn species, the adults fly during September and October and are attracted to light.
The larvae feed internally on the roots of hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium), and possibly other umbelliferous plants.
