Coleophora saxicolella

(Duponchel, [1843])

Wingspan 13-16 mm.

The eggs of this species are laid on the florets of goosefoot (Chenopodium) and orache (Atriplex).

The larva makes a silken case, 6-7mm long when fully formed.

Pupation occurs in the case on the ground, with the adults emerging in July and August.

The moth is thought to be locally common throughout most of the British Isles.
