Coleophora conyzae
Zeller, 1868
Wingspan 12-16 mm.
One of the larger Coleophorids, the adults being reasonably distinctive with their streaked white and buff forewings.
The species is mainly distributed in southern England and Wales, but a colony has also been located in Yorkshire, so it may occur elsewhere. The normal flight period is in June and July.
The larvae form a series of cases cut from leaf fragments of the foodplants, ploughman?s spikenard (Inula conyzae) or common fleabane (Pulicaria dysenterica). The later cases have a noticeable downy appearance.
